Configuring System Settings by Using Control Panel



          1. In System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
2. In Performance box, click Settings.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. In Virtual Memory box, click Change.
5. In Drive list, click the drive that contains paging file, if necessary.
6. In Initial Size text box, increase the value by 10, and then click Set.
7. Click OK to close the Virtual Memory dialog box.
8. Click OK to close the Performance Options dialog box.
            9. Set the Variables before closing as below steps

            a)
In System Properties dialog box click Advanced tab and then click Environment
                        Variables.
            b) Under System Variables, click New.
            c) In the Name text box, type
WinXPdir.
            d) In the Value text box, type the path to the folder containing the Windows XP system files,
                e.g.
C:\Windows.
            e) Click OK. and return to the Environment variable box.
            f) Scroll through System Environment Variables and verify that WinXPdir is listed.
            g) Click OK to close Environment Variables dialog box.
            h) Click OK to close the System Properties dialog box.
            i)  Close the Performance And Maintenance window.
            j) From Start menu click Run.
            k) In the text box, type
cmd and then press enter or click OK.
            l) At command prompt, type
set | more, and press ENTER.
            m) Type
cd\ and then press ENTER to switch to the root directory.
            n) Type
cd %WinXPdir%, and press ENTER.
            o) Type
exit and press enter to close command prompt.
