Causes : There are several possible causes for NTLDR errors such as PC is trying to
boot from a Hard Drive orFlash Drive that is not configured to be booted from or
the PC trying to boot from anon-bootable source. Other possible causes may be
corrupt and mis-configured files, hard drive and OS upgrade issues, corrupt hard
boot from a Hard Drive or
the PC trying to boot from anon-bootable source. Other possible causes may be
corrupt and mis-configured files, hard drive and OS upgrade issues, corrupt hard
outdated BIOS, and damaged or loose IDE Cables.
Soln : Any one of the solution given below can be use to fix the error.
Step 1. a) Insert Bootable CD and start the computer.
b) When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R.
c) Type a number corresponding to the Windows installation that is to be repair
(usually 1) and press Enter.
d) When prompted, type the administrator password and press Enter.
e) Select boot from command prompt, in the command prompt, copy NTLDR and
NTDETECT.COM from the i386 folder of the CD to the root folder of the hard
drive. (e.g. COPY D:\I386\NTLDR C:\
or
COPY D:\I386\NTDETECT.COM C:\ )
f) Remove the Bootable CD and restart the computer.
c) Type a number corresponding to the Windows installation that is to be repair
(usually 1) and press Enter.
d) When prompted, type the administrator password and press Enter.
e) Select boot from command prompt, in the command prompt, copy NTLDR and
NTDETECT.COM from the i386 folder of the CD to the root folder of the hard
drive. (e.g. COPY D:\I386\NTLDR C:\
or
COPY D:\I386\NTDETECT.COM C:\ )
f) Remove the Bootable CD and restart the computer.
Step 2. a) Load Windows Bootable CD into CD/DVD drive.
b) Set the first Boot device to CD/DVD drive.
c) When prompted to Boot from CD, press any key.
d) At the boot menu, press "R" to load Recovery Console.
e) Select the installation to be fixed.(Replace the drive letters
accordingly).
f) Type "COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\" and press ENTER (Here assuming C:\ is the
drive where OS is loaded and D:\ is the CD/.DVD drive with Bootable CD).
g) Type "COPY D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\" and press ENTER.
h) Remove the CD and type "EXIT" then press ENTER to reboot the
computer.
Note that fixboot and fixmbr command can also be use to rectify this error.b) Set the first Boot device to CD/DVD drive.

computer.
